FAQs
Customers and tradespeople use FindMyTrader differently. The first set of questions is for people posting work. The second set is for tradespeople responding to jobs.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does FindMyTrader work?
You post a job with the trade you need, what needs doing, where the work is, and when you need it. Tradespeople in that trade can view the job and, if they are interested, contact you directly. FindMyTrader makes the introduction. It does not carry out the work, and any agreement is between you and the tradesperson.
How do I post a job?
Select Post a Job, choose the trade, then describe the work, the postcode, and when you need it done. Add your name, phone number and email so a tradesperson can reach you. If you are not already signed in, you confirm your email before the job is posted.
Is it free to post a job?
Yes. Posting a job is free. FindMyTrader does not charge customers to post a job.
How will tradespeople contact me?
Your contact details are not shown publicly. A tradesperson who is interested in your job can get your name, phone number and email, then contact you directly.
Can I edit or close my job?
You can close a job from My Jobs when you no longer want responses, and you can reopen it later. You can also delete it. Job details cannot be edited after posting. If something needs to change, close or delete the job and post a new one.
How do I pay the tradesperson for the work?
You pay the tradesperson directly for the work. FindMyTrader does not receive, hold or process your payment for the job. Agree the price, the payment method and the payment terms with the tradesperson before work begins.
Does FindMyTrader handle payments between customers and tradespeople?
No. You pay the tradesperson directly for the work. FindMyTrader does not receive, hold or process the customer's payment for the actual job. You and the tradesperson agree the price, payment method and payment terms between yourselves before work begins.
What should I agree with the tradesperson before work starts?
Agree the details directly with the tradesperson before work begins. Cover the scope of the work, whether the price is fixed or an estimate, materials and extra costs, dates, how and when you will pay, and what happens if either of you cancels. FindMyTrader is not part of that agreement.
Is FindMyTrader available across the UK?
Yes. Customers can post jobs across the UK. Include the postcode for the property so tradespeople can see where the work is needed.
Do I need an account to post a job?
You can start at Post a Job without already being signed in. Add your name, phone, email and a password. We email a verification code, and the job is posted after you enter that code. You can also create a customer account from Sign up, then post while you are signed in.
How does email verification work?
FindMyTrader emails you a code. Enter it on the verification page. Check your junk folder if it does not arrive, and you can ask for a new code from that page. You need a verified email before you can sign in. If the code is invalid or has expired, request another one and try again.
Tradesperson questions
How do I register as a tradesperson?
Open Register as a tradesperson. Add your name, trade, city, postcode, phone number, years of experience, email and a password. This creates a tradesperson profile. It does not promise that customers will hire you.
How does email verification work?
After you register, FindMyTrader emails you a code. Enter it on the verification page and your profile is created. Check your junk folder if it does not arrive. You can ask for another code from that page. You need a verified email before you can sign in or respond to a job. An invalid or expired code has to be requested again.
How do I browse jobs?
Signed-in tradespeople open Marketplace. It lists open jobs across the trades on FindMyTrader, not only your own trade. Recommended orders jobs using your trade, location and working area. All jobs shows the newest first. You can filter by trade and by postcode or area. A listing does not include the customer's name, phone number or email. Jobs come from customers who choose to post. FindMyTrader does not promise that suitable work will be available.
How do I respond to a job?
Open the job in Marketplace and contact the customer to discuss the work. Agree the details, price and a suitable time together. FindMyTrader does not promise that the customer will hire you.
